Toby Levene Orlovick Obituary (1917 - 2013)

Toby Levene Orlovick, 95, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Brighton Gardens. Graveside services will be at 10:30am Thursday, July 4, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kehilath Israel Synagogue, CASA or a charity of one’s choice. Toby was born November 25, 1917 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of David and Agnes (Goodman) Landau. She was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Northeast High School in 1933. She initially worked at the old “Telephone Company” and had a long career at U.S. Toy Company before finishing her working life at Twentieth Century Financial, retiring at age 70. Toby loved dancing, falling in love with a tall dark stranger at the Playmor just before WWII. 6 months later she married Harry “Homer” Levene just before he shipped off to the Philippines. They subsequently had 2 children, Elyse and Robert, and had been married for 32 years when Harry died. After 10 years had passed, Toby met Marvin Orlovick and love came again along with dancing, travel and volunteering. Toby was a member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue, one hundred club and the City of Hope. She volunteered over 4000 hours at Children’s Mercy Hospital and 4000 hours at her favorite of all places, Kaleidescope. Toby was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Harry Levene; brother: Larry Rankle and her sisters, Yetta Kaplan Gicinto, Eileen Landau and Dorothy Stoop. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Marvin Orlovick; son: Robert Levene, Kansas City, MO; daughter: Elyse Levene, Denton, TX; sister: Goldie (Shankman) Glick, Chicago, IL; step-sons and wife: Bruce and Faye Orlovick, Independence, MO; step-daughter and husband: Sandy and Mark Robinson, Chicago, IL; grandson and wife: Brian and Christa Robinson; grandson: Mathew Orlovick; granddaughter: Sarah Bueno; grandsons: Eric Levene and Ian Levene; step-granddaughter and husband: Jolie and Reuben Fridman; great-granddaughters: Nina Fridman, Maya Fridman and Adeline Robinson; and many loving nieces and nephews.
