Sylvia Ruth Goldstein Obituary (2007)

Sylvia Ruth Goldstein, 86, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Kansas City Hospice House. Mrs. Goldstein was born June 2, 1920 in New York, NY. She spent her youth in Ellenville, NY, and graduated from Ellenville High School. Prior to getting married, she worked as an administrative assistant for a law office and the Wilson Handkerchief Company, her father’s business. She married David Goldstein on March 9, 1947. In 1964, she moved to the Kansas City area where she was a long time member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue. She was a sweet, selfless, giving, compassionate person – a woman of valor in the truest sense. Mrs. Goldstein is survived by her husband of 60 years, David Goldstein; daughters and son-in-law Robin Jaffe and Kerry and Alan Cosner; grandchildren Michael, Anna (Michael Horine), Tamar, Marina and Jonathan Jaffe, Sara Juster, Justin and Brandon Cosner; great-grandchildren Caroline, Samantha and Ariel Juster; sister, brother and sister-in-law Florence Cohen and Emanuel and Lois Winston. Funeral services will be graveside at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery, 19th and Blue Ridge Blvd. Donations may be made to Kehilath Israel Synagogue and Kansas City Hospice.
