SUE S. SINGER Obituary (1923 - 2016)

Sue S. Singer, 92. of Prairie Village, KS, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Benton House of Prairie Village. Graveside services will be at 12 noon Tuesday, March 1, at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kehilath Israel Synagogue or Vitas Hospice. Mrs. Singer was born to immigrant parents, Peter and Sara (Gersh) Rosen, on October 29, 1923, in Kansas City, KS and was a lifelong area resident. She attended Benton Elementary School, Horace Mann Junior High and graduated from Central High School. Mrs. Singer was married to Carl R. Hyken for 29 years. She later married Jack Singer. Mrs. Singer was a travel agent and worked in the administrative offices at Johnson County Community College. She was a former member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. She was a life member of B’nai B’rith and performed in Kiddie Capers. Mrs. Singer enjoyed bridge, Mahjong; loved music and spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings. Mrs. Singer is survived by her daughters and son-in-law: Beverly and Dr. Norman Burk; Sara Antin; son: Steven Singer; her niece whom she considered to be another daughter: Pam Auerbach; grandchildren: Ronald Burk, Steven Burk and wife Sara, Evan Antin and Garrett Antin; great-grandchildren: Rahm, Jaemon, Talia, Joseph and Sophia and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Donald Cohen, Benton House and Vitas Hospice.
