Solomon Chernicoff Obituary (2009) - Prairie Village, Kansas

Solomon E. Chernicoff, 98, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2008, in Pittsburg, KS. Graveside services will be 12 noon Friday, January 9 at Kenilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kehilath Israel Synagogue or a charity of the donor’s choice. Mr. Chernicoff attended Georgia Tech University where he earned a degree in chemical engineering. He worked for Mackie-Clemens Mining Co. as a chemical engineer his entire professional life of 42 years, retiring at age 70. He was a long time member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue. He married his beloved wife of 21 years, Rose, in 1975 at age 65. Mr. Chernicoff was preceded in death by his wife: Rose; sister: Berta Eisberg; nephew: Preston Eisberg; niece: Rita Ann Trantham. He is survived by nephew: John Eisberg, Nicasio, CA and nephew by marriage: John Trantham, Prairie Village, KS. Mr. Chernicoff was a very intelligent man who loved his work and enjoyed extensive reading.
