Sidney DeLott Obituary (2008) - Mission Viejo, California

Sidney DeLott, 93, of Kansas City and Mission Viejo, CA passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at his home in Mission Viejo. Funeral services will be held at 11:30am, Monday, May 19 at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Sidney worked for many years as a sales representative for Farberware, winning many national sales honors. He moved to California 45 years ago to begin a very successful career as vice president with Petrocelli Men’s Clothing for the West Coast. Sid continued as a fabulous sales representtative in men’s clothing until his retirement in his late 80’s. Sid was born in DeKalb, IL and later moved to Kansas City where he met his loving wife of 40 years Frances. Sid volunteered and was honored by the Hoag Memorial Hospital in Orange County, California. Sid will be best remembered as one of the top tennis players in the area who spent lots of time at The Plaza Tennis Courts, sometimes playing in the coldest months of the year. He organized and volunteered to referee many important tennis matches held in Kansas City when he was an area resident. Sid continued to play tennis into his 80’s while living in California. Sid was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Leah DeLott; his wife: Frances in 1979; brother: Paul DeLott; sisters: Tess Caro, Bea Aronsen and Rose Saper. Sid is survived by his wife Jeanne of the home; two wonderful and caring daughters and sons-in-law: Carol and Ed Lapin, Overland Park, KS, Patricia and Leslie Spero, West Palm Beach, FL; stepdaughters and their husbands: Donna and Michael Cole, Delmar, CA, Gail and John Swartzberg, Lafayette, CA; 4 grandchildren: Robert Lapin and his wife Lori; David Lapin and his wife Carie; Stephanie Klein; Jennifer Gofman and her husband Slavik. Sid also leaves great-grandchildren: Harrison, Zoi, Max, Cooper and Jack.
