Shirley Anne Tivol Leifer Obituary (2007)

Shirley Anne Tivol Leifer, was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 6, 1920, to Charles and Mollie Tivol. Upon graduating high school at the age of 16, Shirley matriculated to the University of Illinois, where she earned her B.S. in education. Shortly after graduation, Shirley met the love of her life – Jack Leifer. Six weeks after friends arranged a “blind-date,” the couple was married. It was to be a blissful marriage that lasted 61 years, until her husbands passing. Shirley was proud of her role in helping to build Tivol Jewelry Company, a business founded in 1910 by her father, Charles Tivol. Always known for her style and grace, Shirley became an integral part of the Tivol image in Kansas City. Through the years, she worked side-by-side in the company with her parents, husband, brother, son, niece and nephew. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Harold and Ruthie Tivol; son Gary and Jo Ellen Leifer; son John Leifer, and her grandchildren Nicole, Charles, Andy, Jamie and Evan Leifer. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed deeply by all. The family requests donations to the Salvation Army in lieu of flowers. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Congregation Beth Torah, 6100 W. 127th St., Overland Park, KS. Burial at Rose Hill Cemetery.
