Sherman W. Dreiseszun, 85, of Leawood, KS, passed away Monday, December 3, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be 1:30pm Wednesday, December 5, at Kehilath Israel Synagogue, 10501 Conser, Overland Park, KS. Burial at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Dreiseszun was a 2 time Past President and President for Life of Kehilath Israel Synagogue, member of its Men’s Club; Past President of the Menorah Medical Center Board of Directors; Chairman Emeritus of the Menorah Legacy Foundation Board; Chairman of Israel Bonds Campaign; founding board member and officer of the Jewish Heritage Foundation; member of the Jewish Federation Board of Governors and Board of Directors; founding Board Member, Past President and current Board Member of the Jewish Community Campus Board. Mr. Dreiseszun was born in Kansas City, MO and was a life long area resident. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Mr. Dreiseszun was a gunner, whose B-17 was shot down over the Mediterranean. When he was struggling to survive in the water, he promised G-d that upon his return to civilian life, he would dedicate himself to his synagogue and Jewish causes. He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Irene Dreiseszun; daughter and son-in-law: Helene and Marshall Abrahams, Cherry Hills Village, CO; sister and brother-in-law: Mollie and Sol Daniels, Overland Park, KS; granddaughters and their husbands: Brooke and James Levy, New York City, NY; Erica and Evan Fisher, Los Angeles, CA; great-granddaughter: Scarlett Fisher. Mr. Dreiseszun was preceded in death by his son: Richard J. Dreiseszun, in 2005; a daughter, Barbara Dreiseszun, in 1956; his brother: Hyman Dreiseszun; his sisters: Rose Morgan, Anna Zalcman and Dora Karger and his nephew: Frank Morgan.
