Sharon Elaine Prohaska Grossman, M.D. Obituary (2006)

Sharon Prohaska Grossman, M.D., 53, of Overland Park, KS succumbed to cancer on April 29, 2006 after a valiant effort. She put up a good fight and never complained. She was born in Atchinson, KS to Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne Prohaska and graduated from Mount Saint Scholastics High School, SUMA CUM LAUDE. Sharon received a B.S. from the University of Kansas, and entered the University of Kansas Medical School. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Kansas University. She was a caring physician who took extra pride in treating her patients, not only as a medical provider but as friends. Her practice was an extension of herself. She felt compassion for all her patients. She was a risk taker. Sharon was preceded in death by her mother and one sister. She is survived by her devoted husband, Sheldon, her two daughters Susan and Stephanie, whom she adored. Other survivors are her loving brother, Steve, and two sisters, Nancy and Julie. The family would like to say a special “thank you” to all the people who administered to her health care. Her loss leaves a void which will never be filled. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday May 1st at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Burial will follow at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery.
