Sharlyne Joyce Burstein Obituary (1928 - 2010)

Sharlyne Joyce Burstein, 82, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Village Shalom. Services will be at 10:30am Sunday, December 12, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue. Kindly omit flowers; The family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice, Village Shalom or American Diabetes Association. Mrs. Burstein was a sales associate in retail women’s jewelry for many years. She had also volunteered for the American Cancer Society. She was a former member of The New Reform Temple and The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. She was a graduate of Paseo High School and had attended the University of Nebraska. Mrs. Burstein was born in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Samuel and Florence (Zimmer) Tanzer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Burstein; her brother, Herbert A. Tanzer and sister-in-law, Janet Tanzer. Mrs. Burstein is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law: Michael E. Burstein; Bruce Burstein and Nancy Fox, all of Overland Park, KS; her daughter: Donna J. Castleberry, of Missouri; grandchildren: Nathaniel Burstein, Anna Burstein, Samantha Johnston, Jamie Johnston; step-grandchildren: Ashley and Joe Jonas and Aaron Lee Price, step-great-grandson, Jack Fox Jonas and her aunt, Myrtle Cohen.
