Samuel Bernard Sircus, 87, of Overland Park, KS passed away Friday, July 4, 2008. Funeral services will be 10:30am, Monday July 7, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Burial Rose Hill Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to a charity of the donor’s choice. Mr. Sircus was a member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. Samuel was an avid golfer. He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII and was held as a POW after his plane was shot down. Mr. Sircus was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley, 1999; his parents: Abraham and Sadie Sircus; and sister: Edith Helicher; brother-in-law: Leslie Schwartz. Mr. Sircus is survived by his son: Michael Sircus; daughter and son-in-law: Loren and Matthew Rice, all of Kansas City, MO; sister and brother-in-law: Elaine and Irving Cohen, Overland Park, KS; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Herbert Schwartz, Alvin and Hermine Schwartz, all of Overland Park, KS; sister-in-law: Renee Schwartz, Las Vegas, NV; many nephews, nieces and cousins. Samuel was a gentle man and devoted husband who cared for his family and friends. He will be missed by all.
