Sam P. Walters Obituary (2007) - Overland Park, Kansas

Sam P. Walters, 77, of Overland Park, KS passed Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Village Shalom. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 23 at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy or the Sam P. Walters Kindergarten Prayer Book Fund at Beth Shalom Synagogue. Mr. Walters was born in Bendzin, Poland and was a Holocaust survivor. He came to Kansas City as a young man in his early twenties. He owned The Walters Jewelry Company, a wholesale jewelry company in downtown Kansas City, for over 35 years. He was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue and B’nai B’rith. Sam was a life member of the Board of Directors, a Gabbai and a frequent member of the daily Minyan at Beth Shalom Synagogue. Mr. Walters was preceded in death by his brother Itzhak Posmantier. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Dr. Giselle Wildman and Dr. John Fasbinder; one grandson: Alex Wildman, all of Overland Park, KS; brother and sister-in-law: Harry and Ruth Posmantier, Skokie, IL; nieces and nephews; former wife: Ann Walters, Overland Park, KS.
