Ruth Lois Diamond, 77, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, May 6, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to Ohev Sholom Synagogue or Beth Shalom Synagogue. Mrs. Diamond was a member of Beth Shalom and Ohev Sholom Synagogues; Past President and life member of Ohev Sholom’s Sisterhood, Hadassah, Beth Horon Chapter - B’nai B’rith Women and taught Hebrew School and Sunday School in the Jewish Community for over 35 years. She was a graduate of Wyandotte High School, received her B.S. in Journalism from the University of Missouri - Columbia, her Masters Degree in Communication from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and was working on her PhD. in communication. Mrs. Diamond was a member of the Quill & Scroll National Honor Society, Phi Sigma Sigma sorority and was listed in Who’s Who in American Women. She was born in Albany, NY and came to the Kansas City area in 1944. Mrs. Diamond was preceded in death by her parents, Bess and Bill Abramson and her husband of over 40 years, Myron S. Diamond, in 1998. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Vicki Diamond, Overland Park, KS; sister: Judy Krug, Overland Park, KS; granddaughters: Jamie Ann Diamond and Emily Jayne Diamond, both of Overland Park, KS and her brother-in-law: Robert Diamond, Minneapolis, MN. Ruth was a loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother and aunt who will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
