Ross N. Zucker Obituary (2008) - Overland Park, Kansas

Ross N. Zucker, 94, of Overland Park, KS passed away Thursday, September 4, 2008, Menorah Medical Center. Funeral services 1:00pm Friday, September 5 at the Yukon Chapel in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Mr. Zucker was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. After a brief law career he joined his father in the family business, S. Zucker and Son, a wholesale jewelry company. He and his beloved wife, Edith married in 1940. She passed away just 2 months prior to their 50th anniversary. They moved to the States in 1978 to be with their daughter and son-in-law. Mr. Zucker was a former member of Congregation Ohev Sholom where he was a minyanaire. He spent many hours visiting community members living in nursing homes and being cared for in hospitals. He was very active in The Heritage Center at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City. Mr. Zucker was preceded in death by his wife Edith, 1990; sister: Blanche Zucker. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law: Jeffery and Shirley Zucker, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; daughter and son-in-law: Marjorie and Barry Skikne, Leawood, KS; grandchildren: Frances and her husband Brett Leibsker, Andrew Skikne, Sarah Skikne.
