RICHARD LEE TAYLOR Obituary (1938 - 2018)

Richard Lee Taylor, 79, of Olathe died Sunday, February 25, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Burial to follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, New Reform Section. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Ohev Sholom Synagogue. Richard was born July 11, 1938, in Kansas City, MO to the late Jack and Frances Taylor. After graduating from Missouri Military Academy in 1956, Richard entered the family business, Jax' Fixtures & Supply Co., where he worked for the next 44 years. Finding full-time retirement unexciting, Richard went to work part-time at Warren Hannon Jewelers in downtown Olathe after the family business was sold. In 1972, Richard married Jean Dodgion and they shared a lifelong love and partnership. They enjoyed travel, golf and collecting antiques. Richard also was a sports enthusiast, especially when it came to the home town teams. Along with a positive attitude, Richard had a good sense of humor and a great wit, entertaining family, friends, and strangers alike. Richard is survived by his brother, Darryl, children David, Nancy, Ira, Melissa, Beth and their spouses, 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. The family is especially appreciative and grateful for the care and support provided by the staff at Brighton Gardens over the past year while he was a resident.
