Regine Harwick Obituary (2007) - Boca Raton, Florida

Regine Harwick, Boca Raton, FL, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2007, after a short illness. Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Wednesday August 8 at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. followed by burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, 12320 Nall Ave., Overland Park, KS 66209. Mrs. Harwick was born in Steinheim, Germany, to Moritz and Selma Becher. She moved to the Kansas City area and Butler, MO where she worked with her uncle, Paul Levy, in a successful family business, Levy Brothers Mercantile. She retired in 1978. Mrs. Harwick and her late husband, Max, were married over 50 years. They made their winter home in Boca Raton, returning each spring to Butler. Mrs. Harwick was a lifetime member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. She was an excellent cook and her recipes were published in Jewish Cooks in America. Mrs. Harwick was preceded in death by her husband Max in 2002; brother: Ludwig Becher; sister-in-law: Lotte Pick. She is survived by her nephew: Peter Pick and his wife Eldy; great-niece: Julie Dewlal and her son Deven; her cousins: Martin Levy, Charles Levy, Mark Levy, Margot Katz, Carol Wiener, Joyce Wormser and many other cousins. She is also survived by a host of friends and will be greatly missed by those that love her so. The family would like to express a special thanks to her caretaker: Jeanie Walker.
