Michael Singer Obituary (2008) - Overland Park, Kansas

Michael J. Singer, 85, of Overland Park, KS passed away Monday, June 23, 2008 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday June 24th at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Burial at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah or Congregation Beth Israel Abraham and Voliner. Mr. Singer was born in Poland and immigrated to the Kansas City area in 1939. He worked in clothing manufacturing for over 40 years at Brand and Puritz Company and also in the tailoring departments at both Woolf Brothers and Joseph A. Banks. Mr. Singer did volunteer work at both Shawnee Mission and St. Joseph Medical Centers. He loved to fish, play cards and travel. Mr. Singer enjoyed special relationships with his close friend and “brother” Abe Kopec as well as friend and companion Bruce Montgomery. Mr. Singer was preceded in death by his brothers: Eddie and Robert Singer and son-in-law: Leonard Tannenbaum. Mr. Singer is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lily, of the home; son and daughter-in-law: Jerry and Margaret Singer, Kansas City, MO; daughter: Ann Rochelle Tannenbaum, Overland Park, KS; brothers and sisters-in-law: Morton and Helene Singer, Overland Park, KS; Neal and Elaine Singer, Leawood, KS; grandchildren and their spouses: Erica and David Bush, Leawood, KS; Jana and Kenny Mann, Chicago, IL; Deborah Singer and her fiancé David Bell, Kansas City, MO; Brian Singer, Kansas City, MO; great-grandchildren: Jonathan and Rebecca Bush; nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.
