Meyer Fox Obituary (2008) - Overland Park, Kansas

Meyer Fox died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of October 9, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO, Sunday, October 12, 2008. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to: Thelma and Meyer Fox Children’s Fund, c/o National Council of Jewish Women, 5750 W. 95th Street, Suite 118, Overland Park, KS 66207. Mr. Fox was born in Russia on August 11, 1919. Meyer came to the United States as a young child, residing in Kansas City for the last 55-plus years. He was devoted to his family, loved his country and was proud of his nearly five years of service in the United State’s Army 526th Ordnance Truck Maintenance Company during World War II, earning five Bronze Stars for his service in military campaigns in Normandy, North France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He treasured time with his family and friends, enjoyed traveling the world, and relaxed by tending to his pool and landscaping. His family is grateful for the time we had with him and will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Thelma Werber Fox. He is survived by his children, Michael and Ellen Dalen of Overland Park, Kansas and Byron Fox and Cynthia Penner of Tucson, Arizona; his grandchildren Jason Dalen and Kathleen Boyle Dalen of Kansas City, Missouri, Mickey and Nicole Hill of Overland Park, Kansas and Matthew Fox of Tucson, Arizona; his great-granddaughter Abigail Hill of Overland Park, Kansas; and his sister Ida Gelber of St. Louis, Missouri. The family would like to thank his caregivers during his last few month: Carla, KiCelle and Linda, Dr. Donald Cohen, and the owners and staff of The Atriums.
