MEYER W. "MICKEY" BROWN Obituary (1940 - 2016)

MEYER WILLIAM BROWN JANUARY 25, 1940 – FEBRUARY 16, 2016 Meyer W. “Mickey” Brown, 76, passed away on February 16, 2016. Graveside services will be at 12:30pm Thursday, February 18 at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care or the charity of one’s choice. Mickey was born on January 25, 1940 in Kansas City, MO to the late Evelyn (Strauss) and Louis Brown. A life-long resident of Kansas City, Mickey attended J.C Nichols Elementary School and was a 1958 graduate of Southwest High School. He attended the University of Missouri – Columbia and UMKC from where he graduated law school in 1966. He married his beautiful bride, Myra Sue on July 9, 1967. Mickey worked in the banking industry for his entire working life, but his true passion and love in his life was for his family. He enjoyed and appreciated all things in nature, the Missouri Tigers, the Rocky Mountains, the Kansas City Royals and the comedic stylings of Mel Brooks, Steve Martin, Rodney Dangerfield, Chevy Chase and John Belushi. Quick with a joke, Mickey truly loved life. He was the life of our party. He kept his sense of humor until the very end. A true original, Mickey’s smile was the light in our lives, and he will be missed more than words can express. Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Leah Rose Brown and sister-in-law, Peedee Brown. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Myra Sue, his children: Amy and Cory Barash, Emily and Todd Novicoff, Scott and Jennifer Oswald-Brown; grandchildren: Jordan Barash, Julia Barash, Mandy Novicoff, Mallory Novicoff, Annie Brown, David Brown and Bode Brown; his brother: Phillip Brown; niece: Melissa Rooker and nephews: David and Michael Brown, and many other relatives and friends. Mickey, affectionately known as “Grampy” was absolutely convinced that his grandkids could do no wrong. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to his cardiologist Dr. Daniel Scharf and his physician Dr. John Goldberg. Both provided excellent care for many years. “Clarence was right!”
