Mary "Mamie" Gruber Obituary (2008) - Prairie Village, Kansas

Mary Gruber, 98, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Menorah Medical Center. Graveside services will be at 12 noon Sunday, March 16 at Har Jehudah Cemetery, Upper Darby, PA. Kindly omit flowers. The family requests donations be made in Mary’s name to any children’s charity. Mrs. Gruber was born February 12, 1910 in Philadelphia, PA to Jacob and Rose Sidewater Boxman and had lived in Prairie Village for the past 49 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 67 years, Julius Gruber, in 1997 and a granddaughter, Melissa Gruber. Mrs. Gruber is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Irma and Irwin Waxman, Prairie Village, KS; Ruth and Michael Cernea, Bethesda, MD; son and daughter-in-law: Melvin and Beverly Gruber, Voorhes, NJ; grandchildren: Melanie (Dan) Allmayer, Andrea (Patrick) Mulcahy, Rachel (Doug) Breyfogle, Jonathan (Judy Philipson) Fredman, Andrew (Kerin) Fredman, Lauren (Gregory) Hout, Frederick Gruber, Suzanne (Demetris) Kafas and 16 great-grandchildren. She was our inspiration and a role model for her entire family and friends.
