Mary Gersh Plotzker Obituary (2007)

Mary Gersh Plotzker, 85, of Modesto, CA passed away December 30, 2007. Graveside services will be held 11:30am Thursday, January 3 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to Community Hospice of Modesto, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356-9259. Mary, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, grew up in Kansas City where she worked for the Hallmark Company and later in her family’s dry goods business. During WW II Mary met her husband of more than 50 years, Aaron Plotzker. They settled in Chicago where they raised their children Madeline and Richard. While raising her children, Mary enjoyed a career in retail sales at Marshall Fields and Company. Following the death of her husband in November of 2000, Mary moved to Modesto, CA to be near her son during her retirement years. Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Madeline and Paul Lazarus, Phoenix, AZ; son and daughter-in-law: Dr. Richard and Shirley Plotzker, Modesto, CA; grandsons and their spouses: Ben and Kara Lazarus, Minneapolis, MN, Kevin and Alicia Plotzker, Modesto, CA; granddaughters: Sarah Lazarus, New York, NY, Daryl Ann Plotzker, Portland, OR; great-granddaughter: Lucia Amelie Lazarus, Minneapolis, MN; sister: Eunice Zachariash, Los Angeles, CA.; brothers: Charles and Harold Gersh, both of Kansas City, MO. She will also be missed by a large loving family of nieces, nephews and friends.
