Marna Kupperstein Bergmann Obituary (1928 - 2010)

Marna Bergmann, 81, of Austin, TX passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 at her home. Services will be held at 4:30pm Monday, April 26, in the Yukon Chapel at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 5529 Ditzler Avenue, Raytown, MO 64129. Burial to follow. Kindly omit flowers. Mrs. Bergmann was born in Kansas City, MO, August 31, 1928 to Solomon and Susan Kupperstein She attended Kansas City schools graduating from Paseo High School in 1945 and was confirmed at Beth Shalom Synagogue. She was editor of the B’nai B’rith newspaper for several years. She married her beloved husband Manfred in 1950. They were married 37 years until his passing in 1987. They owned the Lucky Penny Tavern at Truman Road and Hardesty, while Marna ran and operated it for several years. She volunteered at Belinder Elementary School and Meals on Wheels. She moved to Austin, TX in 2002. She was a former member of both Congregation Ohev Sholom and Beth Shalom Synagogues, a member of Kappa Tau Sorority, Marcella Roden and Ohev Sholom Sisterhood. Mrs. Bergmann was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by daughters and son-in-law: Margo Sack, Austin, TX, Julie Bergmann, Brooklyn, NY, Ellyn and Edward Bigus, Springhill, KS; nine grandchildren: Benjamin and Michael Sack, Shlomo Bergmann, Raizel, Moshe and Ephraim Sokol and Jacob, Samuel and Julia Max Bigus; sister and brother-in-law: Selma and Leon Litwin, Kansas City, MO.
