Margery Lichtor Obituary (2006) - Mission Hills, Kansas

Margery Lichtor, 80, of Mission Hills, KS, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at her home. Memorial services will be 1:00pm Sunday, November 26, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to SPARK @ UMKC or Baker University, Baldwin City, KS. Mrs. Lichtor was instrumental in the development of the Black Economic Union and the Kansas City Chapter of the Seven Step Foundation. She had a very full and rich life volunteering her time and leadership to the Arts Council and Johnson County Community College Foundation. Mrs. Lichtor was a member of Congregation Kol Ami and was a member/leader of SPARK @ UMKC, which provides continuing education for seniors in computers and new skills. She was born in St. Louis, MO and came to the Kansas City area via California in 1960. Mrs. Lichtor was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Dr. Joseph Lichtor, in 2003. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Dr. Steve and Helene Cohen, Lone Jack, MO; David and Mary Beth Lichtor, St. Paul, MN; David Cohen, Chicago, IL; daughters and son-in-law: Jody Lichtor, Minneapolis, MN; Barbara and Bob Allen, Palm Desert, CA; twin brother and sister-in-law: Edgar and Donna Orchard, Louisiana, MO; brother and sister-in-law: Bob and Lois Orchard, St. Louis, MO; grandchildren: Peter Lichtor and Brian Lichtor, St. Paul, MN; Carley Cohen-Fox and Steve Fox, Louisville, CO; Justin and Lisa Cohen, Pleasant Hill, MO; Andrew and Debbi Cohen, Grayling, MI; great-grandson: Jacob Martin Cohen, Pleasant Hill, MO.
