Leatrice "Leady" Rosenberg Obituary (2006)

Leatrice F. Rosenberg died peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Menorah Medical Center. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Wednesday, September 27, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Kansas City Hospice or Beth Shalom Synagogue. Leady as she was known to her friends since college, was born in Hot Springs, AR on November 19, 1925. Her parents were Gertrude and Alfred Cohen who predeceased her as well as a brother, Lewis M. Cohen. Leady was an outstanding student, graduating Valedictorian of her high school class. She attended the University of Texas where she matriculated with the highest freshman English scores in the state. Leady moved to Kansas City in 1945 when she married Paul Rosenberg. She was an active, involved member of her community serving as vice-president of Congregation Beth Shalom Sisterhood and vice-president of the Women’s Division, Greater Kansas City Jewish Federation. For several years, she volunteered as a teacher’s aide for the Kansas City, MO Headstart program. The highlight of her communal service was the opportunity to co-chair the Hadassah Presentation Ball in 1966. In addition, Leady worked as a sales associate at Halls Plaza Store for over 10 years where she consistently led sales in crystal art ware. She leaves her children: Nita and Robert Levy, Paul Rosenberg, Jim and Tina Rosenberg; grandchildren: Karen and Brian Cole, David and Nicole Levy, Joshua Rosenberg, Zachary Rosenberg, Matthew Rosenberg and Katie Rosenberg; great-grandchildren: Samuel Cole and Hannah Cole. Leady loved her friends, theater, music and good books. But, most of all she loved her family with her whole heart.
