Laura Sechrist, 69, of Overland Park, died Friday, April 26, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, May 1, at Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Shiva 6:00pm that evening 6309 Aberdeen Rd, Mission Hills. She was born May 6, 1954, to the late Martin and Sylvia Stone, in Kansas City, MO. Laura graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1972 and the University of Southern California in 1976.

Laura married Eric Sechrist in 1977 and the couple raised their three children in Overland Park. Laura, a long time Federal employee and avid Kansas Basketball fan, also had a lifelong passion of sewing, creating stuffed creatures for her grandchildren and blankets for children across the Kansas City area and other cancer patients.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Eric Sechrist of Overland Park, KS, son and son-in-law and grandson, Adam, Curtis and Noah Sechrist of New York, NY, daughter and grandson, Anna Sechrist and RJ Wetherill of Overland Park, KS, daughter and son-in-law and grandchildren Abigail, Joshua, Tristan and Ellie King of Lawrence, KS and her brother, Doug Stone of Mission Hills, KS.
