Julius B. Minkoff Obituary (2008) - Overland Park, Kansas

Julius B. Minkoff, 84, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Menorah Medical Center. Services will be at 1:30 pm, Monday, July 21, in the Yukon Chapel at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Burial to follow. Kindly omit flowers, the family sugests contributions to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Avnue/Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494, or a charity of one’s choice. Mr. Minkoff was vice president of Hipsh Textile Distributor’s, a wholesale clothing distributor, for many years before his retirement. He was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue and its Men’s Club; B’nai B’rith; and the Bogey Bum’s of Oakwood Country Club. Mr. Minkoff was a Veteran of WWII. He was in the second wave at Normandy and was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Minkoff was an active member of an organization of his fellow veterans from the 104th Infantry Division of the United States Army, better known as the “Timberwolves.” He was born in South Bend, IN and came to the Kansas City area in 1946. Mr. Minkoff was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Dora Minkoff; his wife of over 55 years, Eloise Minkoff; and a sister, Elsie Minkoff. He is survived by: his son, Larry Minkoff and his companion Harlene Hipsh, Kansas City, MO; daughters, Jill Minkoff, Bronx, NY and Peggy Minkoff, Aliso Viejo, CA; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Joy Minkoff; brothers, Teddy Minkoff, Lafayette, IN, Leonard Minkoff, San Diego, CA and sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Hesh Schneider, Springfield, NJ; grandchildren, Kevin Minkoff and his wife Marcía, Adam Minkoff and his wife Deana, Joshua Goldman and Elise Goldman; great-grandchildren, Jacob Minkoff and Jarod Minkoff.
