Jean Minkin Hurwitz Obituary (2008)

Jean Minkin Hurwitz, 90, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at Village Shalom on Wednesday, May 7, 2008. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Friday, May 9, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Village Shalom, Kansas City Hospice or in her memory with a charity of your choice. Mrs. Hurwitz was a member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. She was also a member of her beloved Nautilus Society and a longtime member of Meadowbrook Golf & Country Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Minkin, husband Jerry Hurwitz and two brothers, Barney and Nate Goldberg. Mrs. Hurwitz is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara & Jerry Freidberg; Susan & Bill Berk; sister-in-law: Joan Goldberg; grandchildren: Melinda & Jeff Gray; Scott Freidberg; Danielle & Steve Bordman; Halli & Ken Romain. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren Also surviving is a stepdaughter and her husband, Robin & Bill Carr and many loving nieces and nephews.
