Irving B. Malashock Obituary (2007)

Irving B. Malashock, 83, of Leawood, KS, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Menorah Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:30am Sunday, January 7, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to Beth Shalom Synagogue or the Leukemia Society of America. Mr. Malashock co-owned with his son, Sol’s Glass Company, before his retirement in 2000. Previously, he owned Amalco Wrecking Co. Mr. Malashock was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom and B’nai B’rith. He attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE and was a member of Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity. He then graduated from the University of Southern California with an Engineering Degree. Mr. Malashock was born in St. Joseph, MO on October 11, 1923. In 1924 his family moved to Omaha, NE. After serving in the South Pacific with the U.S. Navy in WWII, he came to the Kansas City area in 1953. In 1954 he married Shirley Kopitnik. Mr. Malashock was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Esther Malashock; his brothers, Henry and Milton Malashock and his sisters, Jeanette Wagner, Sarah Finkel and Reva Lebowitz. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Malashock, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law: Jeffrey and Yaffa Malashock, Livingston, NJ; Louis and Gina Malashock, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren: Rachel, Yoel, Hannah, Daniel and Kenneth Malashock.
