Irvin K. Kawarsky Obituary (1926 - 2013)

Irvin K. Kawarsky, 86, of Merriam, KS passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Trinity Nursing and Rehab Center. Graveside services in Des Moines, IA at Glendale Cemetery, 12 noon, Friday March 15. Kindly omit flowers; the family suggests contributions be made to Congregation Ohev Sholom or a charity of donor’s choice. Mr. Kawarsky, the son of Julius and Mae Kawarsky, was born in Des Moines, IA and later moved to Kansas City. He taught physical and health education in the Des Moines public schools for 39 years. He was a member of Congregation Ohev Sholom, B’nai B’rith and a 50-year member of the Shrine. Mr. Kawarsky was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Kawarsky was preceded in death by his wife, Polly of 54 years and his parents. He is survived by son, Jay Kawarsky and his partner Alec Soto, New Hope, PA; daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis & Jeff Patton, Camdenton, MO and Julie & Danny Casto, West Des Moines, IA; sister Rosalie Levy of Palo Alto, CA; and one granddaughter, Nichole Allain and one grandson, Nathan Patton; and close family friend, Jacque Myers.
