Henry R. Steinhaus Obituary (2008)

Henry R. Steinhaus, 87, a longtime resident of Kansas City, MO and more recently Sarasota, FL passed away peacefully, Friday, February 29, 2008. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm, Sunday, March 2 at the Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Beth Shalom Synagogue. Henry was a business man and consultant spending most of his varied career in the development of nursing homes. Henry began his career as a pharmacist, owning the Doctor’s Building Pharmacies. He was a volunteer in many community services and activities. He helped in the development of a school for autistic children. Henry often worked behind the scenes, offering consultation when it was needed and help to those who needed it. Henry was a current member and past president of Beth Shalom Synagogue. He was a member of its Men’s Club, B’nai B’rith and the Masons. Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Bettye Rose, in 2006; brothers: Stan and Richard Steinhaus; sisters: Flo Lipsig, Pearl Sullivan. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law: David and Mimi Steinhaus, Minneapolis, MN; daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Art Levine, Overland Park, Ks, Susan and David Swift, Leawood, KS; sister-in-law and her husband Beverly and Peter Newman; 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
