Gertrude "Trudy" Eisen Obituary (2008)

Trudy Eisen, 82, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Friday, October 3, 2008 at Village Shalom. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Monday, October 6, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue. Graveside services will be 1:00pm Wednesday, October 8, at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Queens, NY. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Mrs. Eisen received a Masters’ Degree in Education and taught high school calculus for 25 years in the New York City Public School system before her retirement in 1991. She was born in Germany, was a Holocaust survivor and came to the Kansas City area from New York in June 2004. Mrs. Eisen was a member of the New York Federation of Teachers. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Ezra M. Eisen, in 1977 and her brother, Joseph Schmidt. Mrs. Eisen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Dr. Ruth S. Eisen and Dr. Scott E. Eveloff, Overland Park, KS; son and daughter-in-law: Dr. Howard J. Eisen and Dr. Judy Wolf, Wynnewood, PA; sister-in-law: Erica Schmidt, Frankfurt, Germany; grandchildren: Emily Eveloff and Dan Eveloff, both of Lawrence, KS; Andrew Eveloff, Overland Park, KS; Jonathan Eisen, St. Louis, MO; Miriam Eisen, Wynnewood, PA; Trudy loved her children and grandchildren very much and had many friends and a large extended family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
