Frieda G. Serkes Obituary (2008)

Frieda G. Serkes, 91, of Ft. Worth, TX, formerly of Kansas City, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in Ft. Worth, TX. Graveside services will be 11:00am Sunday, March 16, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to Midwest Chapter of the American Medical Center, Denver, CO or the American Diabetes Association. Mrs. Serkes was an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service for 13 years before retiring in 1979. Prior to this she worked for the Department of Agriculture for 6 years. She was a former member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah and its Sisterhood, Hadassah, AMIT Women and Shalom Geriatric Center Auxiliary. She was born in St. Louis, MO and came to Kansas City from there in 1945. Mrs. Serkes was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Dr. Manuel S. Serkes, in 1992 and a brother, Max Garber. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law: Myron J. and Cheryl Serkes, Leawood, KS; Richard D. Serkes; daughter and son-in-law: Sandra and Kenneth Levine, Ft. Worth, TX; brother: Harold Garber, Kaysville, Utah; grandchildren: Debra and Alan Cohen, San Marcos, TX; Kevin and Mi Hui Levine, Roseville, CA; Karen and Jeff Levine, San Jose, CA; Melynn and Stan Gasswint, Overland Park, KS and 4 great-grandchildren.
