Freda Rose Miller Obituary (2007)

Freda Rose Miller, 77, of Leawood, KS, passed away Friday, September 7, 2007 surrounded by loving family and friends. Freda was born February 6, 1930, the youngest of three children of Sarah and Herman Seiss. She was a lifelong area resident. In 1950, she married Jack Miller, her loving, devoted husband and best friend of 57 years. Their union resulted in the births of four children whom she raised while establishing a long and successful real estate career. She was a traditional mother in the sense she loved her children and family above all else, though nothing else about “Freda Baby” was traditional. She was an original, a character, unique and full of charisma and personality. People gravitated toward her because of her intense loyalty as a friend, and her outgoing, fun nature. Freda appreciated the good life. She loved to soak up the sun, shop and socialize with her many friends. Freda was protective and devoted to her children, Sheila and Daniel Karpin, Overland Park; Alan and Donna Miller, Naples, FL; Mark and Marilyn Miller, Overland Park, and “Toots” Ellen Miller, Austin, TX. Freda loved spending time with her grandchildren Bret and Krista Gordon, Kevin Gordon, Alyson Miller and Lindsay and Jason Miller. She had a natural affection for babies and relished the time she spent with her two great-grandchildren, Sarah and Joshua Gordon. Also surviving are grandchildren: Kevin and Michelle Karpin and Heather and Scott Shachtman; great-grandchildren: Grant, Aidan and Elliott Karpin; Talia and Isabelle Shachtman; sister-in-law: Harriet Seiss, Overland Park, KS; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Jeanette and Bob Wayne, Overland Park, KS and many nieces and nephews. Freda was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law: Sylvia and Gibby Feder; her brother: Alvin Seiss and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Melvin and Ruth Miller. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Sunday, September 9, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue. Burial at Rose Hill Cemetery.
