Fannie Cohen Obituary (2008) - Overland Park, Kansas

Fannie Cohen, 91, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Friday, March 21, 2008. Graveside services will be 3:30pm Monday, March 24, at Sheffield Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Libby Needle Memorial Fund Central Agency for Jewish Education, 12 Millstone Campus Dr., St. Louis, MO 63146-5576 or St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation. Fannie was born March 24, 1916 to Abram & Libby Cohn in Kansas City, MO. She was a graduate of the old Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, KS where she earned National Quill & Scroll awards and National Honor Society. Fannie moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1945 after her marriage to Samuel, after his return from overseas duty in the South Pacific. Before returning to the Kansas City area in 1958, she resided with her husband and children in Waycross, GA. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, daughter, Libby Miriam Needle in 1986, son, Harvey J. Cohen in 1989, brother, Louis M. Cohn in 1996 and a sister, Bertie Levin, in the late 1970’s. Fannie is survived by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Samuel Cohen; son and daughter-in-law: Dr. Marvin C. Cohen and Denise Ashby-Cohen, Raymore, MO; sisters and brothers-in-law: Eva and Morris Tulchinsky, Overland Park, KS; Hikie and J. Schulman, Silver Spring, MD; grandchildren: Elie and Michele Needle, Passaic, NJ; Tami and Mitchell Horn, Cherry Hill, NJ; Avi and Gila Neele, Lincolnwood, IL; Rachel Cohen-Marshall, Key West, FL; Abigail Cohen-Marshall, Allen, TX; Annie Marshall, Allen, TX; great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Ari and Dani Needle; Chaim, Leah and Gavriel Horn; Amelia, Lily and Ariel Needle; son-in-law: Joe Needle, Los Angeles, CA; daughter-in-law: Jennifer Marshall, Allen, TX; many nieces and nephews and their children also survive. Fannie always considered herself blessed by her children and all her extended family, both in Kansas City and the Florida areas.
