Estelle Hannah Parnes Obituary (2008)

Estelle Hannah Parnes, 80, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008. Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, July 21, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue. Burial at Mt. Mrs. Parnes was a co-owner of Advance Office Equipment Company in downtown Kansas City, MO. She was a life long member of Beth Shalom Synagogue, its Sisterhood and choir; member of ORT, Brandeis University National Women’s Committee, the Marcella Rodin Club and The Heritage Center at the Jewish Community Center. Mrs. Parnes graduated from Central High School in 1945 and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute. She was a well known and respected local artist and exhibitor at local art fairs. Mrs. Parnes recently celebrated her 80th birthday with a family reunion. She was born in Kansas City, MO and was a life long area resident. Mrs. Parnes was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Fannie Balot; her husband, Alfred H. Parnes; a daughter, Leslee Ann Crowell and a brother, Harold Balot. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Bennett Lee Parnes and Betty Mitchell, Englewood, CO; daughter and son-in-law: Barbara Rae and Mike Pittel, Overland Park, KS; brothers and sisters-in-law: Samuel and Janice Balot, Leawood, KS; Gene and Sandi Balot, Overland Park, KS; sister-in-law: Mary Parnes, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren: Naomi and Molly Parnes, Englewood, CO; Andrew Pittel, Overland Park, KS; Debbi Pittel and fiancée Jon Gustafsson, Highpoint, NC; Jessica Pittel, Overland Park, KS; Paul Crowell and fiancée Chelsea Orton, Denver, CO; Katie Crowell, Austin, TX; Kelsey Golden and wife, Judith, Austin, TX; great-granddaughter: Leah Golden.
