Ernest Weinstein, 77, of Kansas City, MO passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Menorah Medical Center. Graveside services will be 11:00am Monday, August 11, at Sheffield Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to a charity of the donor’s choice. Mr. Weinstein was born in Kansas City, MO and remained a lifelong area resident. Mr. Weinstein was a pharmacist for over 50 years. He and his uncles owned Ivanhoe Pharmacy where later he was sole owner and operator for 13 years. Mr. Weinstein was Assistant Chief Pharmacist at Research Hospital for many years and then worked for Sullivan County Memorial Hospital as Chief Pharmacist until his retirement in 1996. He received his degrees from the University of Kansas City. Mr. Weinstein served in the US Naval Reserve for 12 years. He was a founding member of the local chapter of an organization of Jewish Pharmacists. Mr. Weinstein was firearm certified for over 44 years by the Kansas City Police Department. Mr. Weinstein was a member of The New Reform Temple and a former member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. As a teenager he was a member of AZA Chapter 347 and served as all city president. Mr. Weinstein is survived by his wife Deborah, of Edwardsville, KS; sons: Jeff Weinstein and his fiancé Laura Toms, Kansas City, MO, David Weinstein, New York, NY; grandson: Jarod Weinstein; granddaughter Mattea Weinstein, both of New York.
