Edward "Eddie" Gerson Obituary (1934

Edward Gerson, 74, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be 12:30pm Friday, May 8, at Beth Shalom Synagogue, 9400 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society. Eddie owned and operated Edcor Safety from 1957 until 1988. In 1986 he started Certified Safety Manufacturing which is still family owned and operated. He was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom, its Men’s Club, was on their Board of Directors and was Chair of the Membership Committee. Eddie was a member of the Board of the National Safety Council, was troop leader of Boy Scout Troop #61 and was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was born in Kansas City, MO, was a lifelong area resident and was a 1952 graduate of Paseo High School. Eddie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Rose Eisenberg Gerson. Eddie is survived by his wife of 51 years: Corrine Gerson, of the home; children: Hope Cohn, Overland Park, KS; Howard Gerson and his wife Cherice, Overland Park, KS; Pam Gerson and her partner, Michele Miller, Gallatin, MO; sister: Lillian Hammer, Dallas, TX; grandchildren: Louis, Andrew and Katie Cohn; Aron, Molly, Lindsey and Brian Gerson; niece: Barbara Crowley, Dallas, TX; his beloved Princess Buttons; many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
