Edith Freed Penzner Obituary (2007)

Edith Freed Penzner, 82, of Leawood, KS, passed away Friday, June 1, 2007 at The University of Kansas Medical Center. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Sunday, June 3, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Jerry Penzner Showcase at the Jewish Community Center, Leukemia/Lymphoma Society or Beth Shalom Synagogue. Mrs. Penzner was a travel agent for 20 years before retiring in 2002. Previously, she was a bookkeeper for P.M.R., the family business, for 20 years. She was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom, National Council of Jewish Women, Brandeis University National Women’s Committee, the Jewish Community Center where she was a past Board member and also sponsored the Jerry Penzner Showcase at the JCC. Mrs. Penzner was born in Brooklyn, NY and came to the Kansas City area from Rye, NY in 1960. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Jerry S. Penzner, in 1987; a son: Stephen Penzner, in 1963 and 3 brothers: Murray, Arnold and Bert Freed. Mrs. Penzner is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Paula Penzner, Shaker Heights, OH; daughters and sons-in-law: Betty Penzner, Rockville, MD; Rabbi Barbara Rosman Penzner and Brian Rosman, Newton, MA; Devra and Gidon Ariel, Israel; grandchildren: Joshua Penzner and his wife Dr. Julie Penzner, Abigail Penzner, Eliana Penzner, Jennifer Kirkland, Jonathan Kirkland, Aviva Rosman, Yonah Rosman, Elisheva Ariel, Akiva Ariel, Shira Rina Ariel, Chayim Tzvi Ariel and Moriyah Ariel.
