David Pener, 60, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 26th, 2014.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 28 at Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue, followed by burial at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to The Alzheimer's Association or the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City.
One of five siblings, five bright points on a shining star, one point has now faded. David was a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School and The University of Arizona. He returned home after graduation to follow in the footsteps of his father, Harold Pener, who was the founder of the family's retail business. When his father passed away in 2004, David became the co-owner of Harold Pener Man of Fashion along with his brother, Barry Pener. David loved his work and was a mentor and friend to all of his colleagues.
David was a rare and wonderful person who was kind to all. He was a gentleman of great integrity and he was devoted to his friends and family.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Beth Pener. They lived, loved and enjoyed 11 wonderful years together. He is also survived by his children Rose (Joseph) Moran and Brian Pener; stepdaughers Annalisa (Nathan) Barelli and Alexis Barelli; his mother Shirley Pener; sisters Marsha Johnston, Carol (Gino) Tutera and Julie (Chad) Ullman; brother Barry (Francine) Pener and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
