Clara N. Fogel

Kansas City, Missouri

Clara N. Fogel, 83, a lifelong
resident of Kansas City, died Thursday, January 26, 2006 at St. Joseph Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:30am Sunday, January 29, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue. Burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Temple,
Congregation B’nai Jehudah or the
Salvation Army, 3637 Broadway St.,
Kansas City, MO 64111.
Born in Kansas City in 1922, she
went to Frances Willard Elementary
School and graduated from Paseo High
School in 1940,
She met her husband of 64 years,
Hal Fogel, in Kansas City and lived
with him in Kansas City. She and Hal
had a son and daughter. Dick lives
in North Potomac, MD and Adrian, who
also lived in the Washington, DC
suburbs, died of cancer in 2003.
She was a very active member of the
Jewish Community in Kansas City and
spent years working as a volunteer
at The Temple, Congregation B’nai
Jehudah. She also lived in the same
neighborhood for over 50 years in
Southwest Kansas City, moving to a
retirement complex almost 2 years
ago. But more than anything else,
she had a very close knit group of
friends in Kansas City that shared
their life experiences with each
other from their teenage years
through old age. The group basically
all remained in this area their
entire lives and in reality, became
extended family to each other. A life-
long democrat, she was never at a
loss in volunteering her views on
how to make the Country a better
place. Her friends volunteered to
make her an honorary editor of Time
Magazine, since she was a faithful
reader of the publication for over
50 years.
In addition to her husband Hal and
son Dick, she is survived by three
grandchildren: Sarah Fogel, David
Fogel and Matthew Killian, and a
wealth of other family, friends and
former neighbors who have loving
memories of her.
