Balfa Jo Keller, 84, Overland Park, KS, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Kansas City Hospice House. Graveside services will be at 11:00am Monday, May 24, at Rose Hill Cemetery, 6900 Troost Ave. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall, Kansas City, MO 64145 or a charity of the donor’s choice. Mrs. Keller was born on a farm in East Texas to Fred and Una Fay Hobbs. She worked as a civilian employee for the US Army Air Corp at Dallas Love Field and in McAllen, TX during WWII, and met her first husband in Tyler, TX. They married, moved to DeRidder, LA and then back to his home town of Kansas City. Amongst other clerical jobs, she spent over a decade at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas City. Mrs. Keller was a former member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert Stanley Rubin; her second husband, Philip D. Keller and her sisters, Jean Lewis and Freda Stephens. Mrs. Keller is survived by her sons: David Rubin, Belton, MO; Barry Rubin, Overland Park, KS; step-daughter: Janice Foote, Kansas City, MO; her brother and sister-in-law: Bill and Janet Hobbs, Van, TX; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Richard and Miriam Rubin, Tyler, TX; Darrell and Betty Lewis, Grand Saline, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
