Alvin Lee Cohen Obituary (2007)

Alvin Lee Cohen, 79, of Lenexa, KS, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2007 while vacationing in Barcelona, Spain. Funeral services will be 12 noon Sunday, July 22, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association. Alvin was born in Kansas City, MO on November 9, 1927, to Evelyn and Jack Cohen. Alvin attended Southwest High School and then attended the University of Missouri at Columbia before joining his father in the beauty supply business, Evelyn, Inc. He eventually took over the business, retiring in 2000. Alvin was a former member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, Beth Shalom Synagogue, the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City and the Beauty and Barber Supply Institute. Alvin was a generous and loving husband to Linda; a devoted and supportive brother to his sister Esther; a kind and patient friend to his son: David Wahl and his wife Tami, stationed in Yokosuka, Japan and his daughter: Stephanie Guenther and her husband Kyle and their family of Kansas City, MO. Alvin also leaves behind his niece Lori Levens and her husband Harold Steinhardt and nephew and his wife Bruce and Kate Levens all of Kansas City, MO. He also leaves behind cousins and other relatives.
