Albert Irving Goller Obituary (2008)

Albert Irving Goller, age 81, of Leawood, KS, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at Menorah Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, burial at Mount Carmel Cemetery. He was president of Vile-Goller/Fine Arts Printing & Lithographing Company and later senior vice president, property management, for the Eisenberg Co. Commercial Realty. His business associations included the board of the Printing Industries of America, president of the Graphic Arts Union Employers of America, president of Printing Industries of Kansas City, employer co-chair of the Graphic Arts International Union Health and Welfare Program, and employer chair of many labor relations committees locally, regionally and nationally. His community involvements included campaign chair and president of the Jewish Federation of Kansas City, lifetime trustee of the Jewish Community Foundation, former life board member of Congregation Beth Shalom, former vice-president and life board member of the Jewish Community Center, and former chair of Israel Bonds, Kansas City area. Other affiliations included the Jewish Community Relations Bureau and Oakwood Country Club. He was born March 31, 1927, at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., to Samuel David Goller, who died in 1959, and Edith Silberman Goller, who died in 1975. He attended the William Rockhill Nelson Elementary School, the Paseo High School and the Kansas City University, now the University of Missouri-Kansas City, before enlisting at age 17. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps and served as a radio operator mechanic with the 332 nd Troop Carrier Squadron in China. He graduated from the Kansas City Junior College with an AA degree. He was married to Shirley Stolowy Goller for 47 years until her death in 1999, and for five years to Elaine Ernstein Goller until her death in 2005. He is survived by a son Howard and his wife Shoshanah, of Silver Spring, MD, and their children Aviva, Shai and Ayelet; a son Ethan and his wife Rona Malakoff, of Ivoryton, CT, and their son Mac; and a son Sam of Leawood, KS, and his children Garett and Imrie. He also is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Roxene and Martin Sloate, of Delray Beach, FL; his mother-in-law, Rose Stolowy, of Leawood, KS; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Laurel and Michael Rogovein, of Overland Park, KS.
