Abe Sander Obituary (2007) - Kansas City, Missouri

Abe Sander, 85, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Friday, August 10, 2007 at St. Joseph Medical Center. Graveside services will be 1:00pm Sunday, August 12, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education or Beth Shalom Synagogue. Mr. Sander co-owned the Sander Furniture Manufacturing Co. with his brother, Sam Sander, until retiring in 1985. He was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue, Jewish Community Center and the New American Club. Mr. Sander was born in Bendzin, Poland and came to the Kansas City area in 1949. He was a Holocaust Survivor. Mr. Sander was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Chana Sander, in 2001; brothers: Sam and Julius Sander and his sister: Pola Ross. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Jack and Betty Sander, Wilmette, IL; daughters and sons-in-law: Toube and Mark Searles, Leawood, KS; Cindy and Robert Greenberg, Dallas, TX; grandchildren: Allison Sander, Jason and Lucy Sander, all of Chicago, IL; Adam, Jordan and Arianna Searles, Leawood, KS; Ross and Miles Greenberg, Dallas, TX; sister-in-law: Shirley Sander, Overland Park, KS. Abe “Dovid” will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving, strong, loyal, kind and generous man.
