Abbott Yukon, 89, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Friday, November 24, 2006. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 27th at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.Abbott owned and operated with his brother-in-law, Joe Stempleman, Jo-Abbott’s Appliance from 1946 until their retirement in 1982. The business was established just after his return from serving his country in WWII as a 1st. Class Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy at locations such as Fairfax, KS, Chicago, Il. and San Juan, Puerto Rico.Abbott was a member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, its Brotherhood, B’nai B’rith, and a member of the Mason Heroine Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Yukon, 1985; brothers: Stanley Yukon, 1986 and Gerald Yukon, 1972; brother-in-law, Joe Stempleman, 2000. Abbott is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jacqueline “Jackie” Yukon; daughter and son–in-law: Connie and Patrick Gary; sister: Shirley Bernstein, O.P.,KS; sisters-in-law: Maxine Yukon, K.C.,MO. and Reeva Stempleman, O.P.,KS; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins also survive.
